Stepping onto the Bahria University Islamabad campus last Thursday carried a distinct sense of familiarity. Having spent 18 years as an educator walking these halls and those at NUML, I have always believed in the intellectual energy of our students. But last week, a group of CS students and faculty showed me something that went beyond my expectations—they demonstrated exactly what becomes possible when academia directly intersects with industry.
At Sitara Innovations, we brought our Industrial App to the university for a live demo and beta testing session. What unfolded in that room provided both immense hope and a sharp sense of urgency.
Driven by our concept-first and R&D philosophy, we opened the floor. The students asked questions that were genuinely valuable for our platform’s real-world architecture. Meanwhile, the faculty expertly connected the dots between theoretical frameworks and our AI-enabled industrial solutions. The feedback was direct, structured, and impactful.
During the session, I shared a few sobering realities about Pakistan’s digital landscape with the audience:
We produce over 30,000 CS/IT graduates every year.
Our IT exports crossed $3.8 billion in FY2025, growing 18% YoY.
Pakistan ranks #8 globally for outsourcing talent, outperforming nations like Germany, France, and the UAE.
Pakistani freelancers earned $1.76 billion in FY2026, marking a massive 78% jump in just one year.
Yet, staggering as these achievements are, 31% of our educated youth remain unemployed.
That last statistic is not a failure of talent. It is a failure of connection.
Our universities are producing highly capable individuals, and the industry has real, scalable work. But without structured linkages—live projects, hands-on beta testing sessions, and industry mentors stepping into classrooms—we keep missing each other.
We decided to take the initiative and bring the platform directly to the students. We walked away with sharper product thinking, refined ideas, and a committed partnership with the Bahria University CS Department.
Sitara carries a legacy of over six decades of industrial excellence in Pakistan. It has always been our conviction that the true strength of any industry lies in the growth of its next generation. That foundational belief brought us to Bahria University this week, and it will continue to drive our ventures forward.
A special thank you to Mr. Muhammad Khurram Ehsan (HOD & Principal of the CS Department), Dr. Muhammad Asif (Cluster Head of the IT Department), and Mr. Raja Muhammad Shamayel Ullah (Senior Lecturer) for their gracious hospitality. Thank you for creating this meaningful space, and for your trust and honest feedback.
This collaboration doesn’t end here; it starts here.
Let’s connect. Let’s build Pakistan’s digital future. Together!
